On March 27, 2020, Dua Lipa released her second album, Future Nostalgia. The album consists of 11 songs and lasts about 37 minutes.

The album was first scheduled to be released on April 3rd, but following a leak of the album and the current pandemic, she pushed the album release forward. Lipa cried on Instagram live as she worked hard for this album and her work did not get to be released when she planned on.

While listening to the album, it is intended to feel nostalgic and has influences from music in the ‘80s, ‘90s, and ‘00s. According to Metacritic, the album received an 89 out of 100 from 18 critic reviews.

A memorable song would be the very last song titled “Boys Will Be Boys.” It talks about the double standards that women have to face on a daily basis. The song starts the song by using lyrics that can be very relatable for women. It basically says that women have to be very aware of their surroundings and do things to protect themselves.

Lipa released three music videos that accompany the lead singles of the song. There was one promotional single, “Future Nostalgia.” A tour was supposed to follow the release of her album, but due to coronavirus pandemic, it was postponed. Though, Lipa appeared on James Corden’s Homefest.

Overall, Lipa uses sounds from the past to give her listeners the perfect throwback album that is the perfect pick-me-up during the quarantine.

“Lipa quickly established herself as one of pop’s most compelling presences during her quick rise, and Future Nostalgia shows that she’s going to be sticking around its upper echelons for a while,” said Maura Johnston from Entertainment Weekly
