Q: How do you manage to be a full-time student with straight As and college apps along with extracurriculars?
A: The main reason I’m able to be successful in school is learning how to manage my time and as well as finding ways to motivate myself. I take things one step at a time and try to make goals that I am capable of. With each small step getting closer to my goal, I feel accomplishment and keep striving to be the best self I can be. However, I also know my limits of knowing when I need a break in order to not stress myself out too much. Trying to find a balance between motivating but not overworking myself was difficult and is still a work in progress, but it is the way I am managing.
Q: How has it been for you not being able to play lacrosse your last season?
A: Not being able to play lacrosse has made a significant change in both positive and negative ways. Not being able to have a season made me feel unproductive and lazy since I always had a busy schedule. However, I had more time to focus on school and myself. All of the time and work I had put in was not going to be put to use which felt disappointing. Even as disheartening as it was, I was able to start focusing on college apps and other important upcoming events that were going to majorly impact my near future. I first was very disappointed and upset with my season being canceled but overtime I was able to put use to my time and work on myself.
Q: How do you stay motivated to do your schoolwork?
A: What I recommend to younger students is exploring your options of what inspires you or makes you happy. I don’t believe that students can give school their all if they are struggling to find the motivation to do well. If students don’t feel comfortable with exploring their options, I would advise them to set small goals that are accomplishable like turning in an assignment early or trying to do an extra credit assignment. I believe that if you take things one step at a time you will be able to digest your situation more and stress a bit less.
