Night School in Santa Ana

Century High School and other SAUSD schools offer students from all over Santa Ana the option to take night school classes. Night school is an option for any student who has failed any class and needs to get credit back. Instead of doing summer school or taking APEX courses during the school year, night school is a semester class that meets once a week from 3 to 7 PM.
Many students who need to make up their credit and don’t know much about night school usually do summer school instead. This can be optional for those who are not morning people and rather retake it later on in the day rather than waking up early. Also, if you take night school, you could enjoy your summer relaxing by the poolside instead of going to school.
I prefer doing night school instead of doing summer school. I am personally in night school and I believe it’s way better than taking a class in the summer because I am already focused on school all day and most of the afternoon, so it’s convenient for my schedule. I have it every Thursday for Biology with Mrs. Espinoza, who is a Biology teacher at Century High School. Each class must have 20 students minimum. The homework at night school doesn’t take a lot of time and when you’re in class the time flies because you’re either doing work independently or listening to the teacher while taking notes.
The teachers who teach night school have their hearts in the right place and want to help.
“I was interested in teaching environmental science because I wanted students to learn about the environment and how our actions as citizens of this world impact our planet earth. I also wanted to do projects to help reduce our carbon footprint,” says Mrs. Espinoza
If you are a student who needs to make up credit and is interested in attending night school, email your counselor. Tell him or her which class you need to retake and that you are interested in night school.

Night school seems like a great opportunity for students who do not want to spend their summers retaking a course that was failed while hearing about teachers who are encouraging and have a passion to help students is inspirational especially during such devastating times. Students who may learn better in this type of environment rather than during early mornings in the summer can definitely benefit from night schoool. Therefore, I believe this is an opportunity students should take advantage of and converse with their counselors. After all, the goal is to find the best method for students to earn their credits while learning.
