Ethan Cardenas is a senior who is graduating from Segerstrom High School. This is his first year as a part of The Jag Journal and was a copy editor for the newspaper. Cardenas has always been a silly guy in the classroom as he always get’s a good laugh out of people, but he is also attentive and supportive of his friends. Even though he is very busy studying or working at Nothing Bundt Cakes, he enjoys playing video games in his free time. Cardenas hopes this will lead him to major in psychology at UCR and go on from there to be a therapist in the future.

1.  What is/are your favorite memory(ies) of Segerstrom?

My favorite memories from Segerstrom are the times when my friends and I are unable to stop laughing for ten minutes during lunch, constantly having fun with my AP Government teacher Mr. Bandy, and sleeping in class for a year straight during my sophomore year.

2.  How has your high school experience at Segerstrom shaped your life?

My high school experience at Segerstrom has shaped my life as I had to learn to hold myself accountable because it matters for my future, when before I didn’t really do that. It also taught me that not everyone is who they seem and to not just let anyone into my life, or back in, even if they apologize.

3.  What are your plans after high school graduation?

My plans after high school are to continue working at my job, while attending UCR and majoring in psychology.

4.  What is one piece of advice you would give to an incoming freshman?

One piece of advice I would give to incoming freshmen is to try and do your best from the very start. People say that freshman year doesn’t really matter, but those grades can hold your GPA down and be the difference in college decisions. I would also recommend them to get involved as much as possible early on because it is harder to do that in the later years.
