Disney+ was released to the public on November 12th. The entertainment platform has many of the classic Disney Channel Original movies, series, and new original content created uniquely for the platform.
The new entertainment streaming service has a variety of shows and movies for their audience to watch. To many people, the platform brought back childhood memories as shows they grew up with what was featured on the app.
Disney+ also includes new and original content for its viewers. A very anticipated show that was to be launched on Disney+ was High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The new show was based on the 2006-2008 movies, High School Musical (starring Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens).
The Mandalorian was also launched on Disney+. It is in the Star Wars franchise and follows the Mandalorian as he tries to protect The Child (Baby Yoda). The first released episode was the same day as the launch of the service.
The prices range from different deals offered by Disney+. There is a free trial that lasts a week, but after that, payment is required. A monthly subscription with only the service itself is $6.99, but the yearly subscription cost is $69.99, which is cheaper than the monthly payments. This also lets the service be streamed on 4 devices at the same time and up to 7 profiles can be added as well as unlimited downloads and ad-free movies and shows.
Disney+ also offers bundles with another streaming service, Hulu. For $12.99 per month, this deal offers Disney+ with all perks included, live events and exclusive shows from ESPN+, and Hulu, but with ads on movies and shows. The offers are available to those who have Hulu and will be billed the exact same.
According to Business Insider, “In order to enjoy the ad-free version of Hulu while getting the savings of the bundle, you need to become a Hulu customer first.”
Disney+ will also be adding different movies that are available on different days. The service is a big competition for other streaming services due to its high demand as more than 22 million people have downloaded the app (CNBC). It shows great competition for other services such as Netflix, HBO, etc.
“I enjoy it because I like watching marvel and it reminds me of when I used to watch princess movies with my sisters in the living room all together,” stated Giselle Bonilla (12).
